I received this after a recommendation from The Leaving Scene. Listening to it, I can see why he thought I’d like it. On the other hand though it is a little different from the kind of stuff that I’ve been posting lately. It’s kind of out there so I’ll let you decided whether it’s you cup of tea or not.
Boy Scout of America is Kyle Lambert of Philadelphia, and telling from this music there is definitely some crazy stuff going on inside that head of his. On most of the tracks on his album Quit Music there is this frenetic, almost manic quality to the music where it’s like it’s bleeding out in every direction. His fusion of electronics and noise almost reminds me of a rougher version of Fuck Buttons at times. In addition to that he adds spoken word vocals and strange samples. The end result is like a trash compactor of metallic noise that Kyle somehow manages to make sound surprisingly listenable and enjoyable.
You can download his album Quit Music for free on his soundcloud. And if you’re into it, he has a Tumblr that you can follow too.
